The Holy Spirit

Your Lover God has given you Jesus Christ to be your Friend, Guide, etc., for your physical human body.  But your human body was created for you to be on this planet earth (school to train you to make the choice to join Him in an eternal lovefest).  But since Your Lover-God is a spirit: those that join him in this eternal lovefest must also be spirits.  God created another part of you that is a spirit or as some call this spirit-you as a soul.  And your Lover-God provided a part of Him that is support to your spirit/soul who will live with Him for eternity.  In this lesson, we will take a look at how the Holy Spirit will support you when you ask for that help through prayer.

First Day Prayer

O Holy Spirit, this is the first day of the rest of my eternal life.  Fill my heart with the inward joy and serenity that comes from living close to you. By you, the Holy Spirit may I bear whatever ills and crosses that I meet with good courage and may I endure what I must endure.  And always and in all things may I give you thanks.  Amen.

This prayer is a good start on understanding on how the Holy Spirit can help your body AND soul.

The Holy Spirit and Soul Prayer.

O Holy Spirit, You have lifted us up to eternal/heavenly places today, and we say with the psalmist. "Bless the Lord, O my soul."  We praise You for Your infallible Word of truth.  Instill it deep within our hearts, that it may continually nurture us.  We pray for Your abiding gifts.  O Holy Spirit, that we bring forth fruits of my Lover-God as His "Sharing Love:" mercy, meekness, kindness, and goodness.  Grant us  self-control and holy desires.  Be with the sick.  Grant guidance for our activities.  Bless us with Your Protection.  Amen.

This prayer points out much of what your soul can gain by this loving relationship.

The Trinity (God the lover/Father, Son and Holy Spirit) Prayer

O Triune God, Father/Lover, Son, and Holy Spirit.  You are my refuge and strength, a constant source of help in time of trouble.  By your help we face each day and all the assignments and challenges. you may give me to strengthen our "shared Love" relationship..  We acknowledge You to be our Creator, Lover, and Controller.  We praise You for Your presence and guidance, giving us strength for each of our days.  Remind us that Jesus, our Guide and Trainer, has triumphed over our true enemies: sin, death, and the devil.  By the Spirit's power enable us always to resist all attacks of the evil one and live in the joy and strength of our Lover-God's love..  Amen.

This prayer gives you a basic understanding of the Trinity-the basic relationship between God the Father/Lover, Son, and Holy Spirit.

For Those Who Serve.

Spirit of God, in the lives of Christians You bear the fruits of love, peace, patience, faithfulness, and self-control.  Come with Your power to those (e.g. police, soldiers, etc.) whose calling demands a special measure of these qualities.   Keep love alive when fear and hate would overwhelm them.  Work for peace amid the forces of crime and war.  Instill patience in the hearts of those who suffer.  Keep our men and women faithful when their tasks seem futile.  As tensions multiply, help them  to exercise self-control, that with dignity and loyalty they may serve You in "shared love."  Amen.

I think you can see how this prayer is meaningful for our times.

To Be Filled with the Spirit

O Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, You are the giver of spiritual everlasting life.  You descend on us daily when we read and study the Bible.  Grant us the humility to follow the Son when He leads us, to Love when the opportunity comes, and to forgive as frequently as you forgive.  Let not past hurts, past regrets, or past failures prevent us from responding to Your urging.  May we ever be filled with Your Guidance so that our life and conversation may be a reflection of "Shared Love" which comes from our Lover-God and Heavenly Father.  Amen.

We need Him.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

O, Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul, I love you.  Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me, console me.  Tell me what I should do...  Give me your orders.  I promise to submit myself to all that you desire of me and to accept all that You permit to happen to me.  Let me only know and follow Your will.

This is a fairly complete description of the Holy Spirit's relationship to us.

I hope that this lesson has improved your relationship with the Holy Spirit.
